Spanish Rose-Hot Paprika
Ab CHF 11.–
Rose-Hot Paprika brings a fruity, warm and savoury paprika note to your kitchen – with a mild to medium heat of 2,000–3,000 SHU. The finely ground powder combines natural sweetness with a clear, pleasantly piquant warmth. Ideal when you want depth and colour without the dominance of hot chilli.
Category: Spice
Taste: fruity, warm, mild to medium heat, slightly sweet
Use: vegetables, stews, marinades, dips, grilled dishes
Format: 60g jar / 500g stand-up pouch
My tip: Always toast paprika only gently or stir it into warm liquid – that way the colour stays clear and the heat stays rounded, without turning bitter.
Origin & Story
Paprika (Capsicum annuum) was brought from Central America to Europe in the 16th century and found ideal conditions in Spain. In the regions of Castile and Extremadura, a long tradition of paprika growing developed. There the pods are harvested fully ripe in an optimal climate and processed into aromatic paprika powder. My rose-hot variety comes exclusively from Spain and combines the fruity spice of sweet paprika with a mild to medium heat. With a heat level of 2,000–3,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units) it sits well below chillies, yet delivers a noticeably piquant seasoning that rounds off the flavour of many dishes.
Highlights
Rose-hot paprika stands out for its bright red colour, fruity notes and a clear, balanced heat. At around 2,000–3,000 SHU it offers an easily tolerated seasoning that also suits more sensitive palates. It is ideal for anyone looking for more depth and intensity without the dominance of hot chillies. Finely ground and versatile – from vegetable dishes through marinades to dips. The exact selection remains my secret.
Quality
The paprika pods come from controlled cultivation in Spain. They are harvested at full ripeness, sun-dried and gently milled – entirely without heat, so that colour, aroma and flavour are preserved. At my manufactory the powder is filled single-batch – 100% all-natural, free from additives, artificial flavourings or technical aids.
The best spices have always inspired me to create new dishes. Only the best is good enough to reach the very top – for you, in your kitchen. 100% natural. Just the way I use it myself, every day.
Tip from Tobias Funke
In my aubergine caviar, rose-hot paprika brings fruitiness, depth and a pleasant, unobtrusive heat. It also works wonderfully in butter, marinades or with vegetable dishes – and brings colour and seasoning to any recipe.
