My tip: I briefly dry-toast seeds like cumin or coriander and grind them while warm – that way the aroma opens up, without bitter notes.
Origin & Story
The Skeppshult herb grinder is made in Sweden at the tradition-rich Skeppshult cast iron manufactory. Since 1906, kitchen tools of pure cast iron have been created there – by hand and with care. The design of the Swing series comes from Carl & Carl and combines Scandinavian simplicity with functional precision.
Highlights
The grinder is made entirely of cast iron. The high weight ensures stability, the grooved grinding surfaces crush herbs and spices evenly. The precisely fitting wooden lid (oak, walnut or black ash) closes tightly and preserves the aroma. The compact shape allows grinding and storing in one.
Quality
Made from 100% cast iron – no coating, no plastic. The woods are solid, carefully finished and come from responsible sources. The grinder is built for long use; only tools that prove themselves every day find their way into the manufactory.

Diameter 9.5 cm · height 6 cm · weight 1.2 kg. Warranty: 25 years from Skeppshult.
Tip from Tobias Funke
I briefly dry-toast seeds like cumin or coriander and grind them while still warm – that way the aroma opens up without bitter notes. I grind pepper right at the table by turning the top and bottom against each other.
