Bolivian Rose Salt
Ab CHF 10.–
Handcrafted rock salt from the Andean highlands. Delicately pink from its natural iron content, mild, clear and soft on the palate with a fine minerality.
- Category: Salt, crystal
- Taste: mildly salty, soft, mineral, clear
- Use: poultry, fish, vegetables, salads, risotto, egg dishes (also in the table grinder)
- Format: 160 g jar, 500 g stand-up pouch
My tip: Scatter as a finish over grilled vegetables or cooked fish. For everyday use, fill it into the grinder – gives clean seasoning without dominance.
Origin & Story
This special rock salt has lain deep in the Andean highlands of western Bolivia for millions of years, protected beneath layers of volcanic rock. It is extracted by hand from underground salt chambers and, to this day, carried down into the valley along old caravan routes. Processing is traditional, in small operations, with great care. A true cultural treasure – rare, mineral-pure and of natural beauty.
Highlights
The salt owes its delicately pink colour to its high natural iron content. The grains are reminiscent of fine rose quartz – a highlight both aesthetically and on the palate. In taste it is mild, clear and soft with a fine minerality. It does not come across as overtly salty, but balanced – a finishing salt for anyone seeking depth without dominance.
Quality
The rose salt is mined, carefully washed and filled without any further processing. No anti-caking agents, no whitening, no additives. The stable crystal structure is excellent for the grinder, but also for coarse crushing by hand. Ideal for high-quality everyday dishes as well as for creative cooking.
The best spices have always inspired me to create new dishes. Only the best is good enough to reach the very top – for you, in your kitchen.
100% natural. Just the way I use it myself, every day.
Tip from Tobias Funke
"For me this salt is a classic: I use it wherever fine seasoning is called for. It looks especially lovely on grilled vegetables, cooked fish or over a buttered potato with fresh herbs."
